The Work Ritual

As I follow my OCD deterioration, I found a perfect example to share. In between renders for some heavy special efx, I began cleaning my house, setting up a work space in my dining room for a couple of days to work on a script and write checks and whatever. I did not notice as I was setting up as I do this all the time... But every now and again, I notice. Tonight being one of those times-- as I began to walk to my room for a good night's rest, it struck me how I had set placed everything. This was a ritual. This is how it has to be done and it's quite exhausting.

The blue pencils are all I'll write rough drafts with. The black pens are for sketching/coloring. The Cross Pens are for writing everything else with, (roller and ballpoint, each having their own purposes.) The Moleskins have to be black covered and different sizes for different things. The grey pencil with the dots is the one I chew one because I wouldn't dream of touching the blue ones with my mouth. That pencil too has to be new every time I sit down.

It's a wonder I get a single paragraph, check, invoice written with that kind of routine.

My Son's Trip Down Memory Lane

On Mother's Day, we went to my Grandparent's and Aunt's house in Valdese. Sadly, a couple years ago, my Grandparent's put their house on the market. My Grandparents moved into my Aunt's house right next door. I love that house. Not only was it a great looking house but I spent many days of my childhood there. They lived back in the woods and so when I was there I was surrounded by the thing I loved the most as a kid, "Indiana Jones Terrain." I fought off armies, monsters, and hid from Belloq all in and around that house. River has always been good at running off and doing his own thing. so when River began towards the house to "explore" I grabbed my camera and shot pictures of all the places that were significant for me as a kid.

I will truly miss that house. I wish I was in a situation to buy it myself. It is unlike any other house and stores so many memories that just being able to keep it to continue reliving those memories would be worth the price tag.

Automated Dialogue Replacement - Week 1

Being that we've decided to go the extra mile to see that our year long labor of love Cult Film, BAD A$$ KILLERS, we began the grueling process of Overdubbing the entire hour and twenty five minute film. Long days in a dark studio are not how I planned to spend my off time between my DP jobs but I don't quit on anything so I'll kick myself later if the film doesn't for sell... But for now we continue with the long Post Production schedule and process to try and make a finished film by August.

REVISED ADR SCHEDULE - TWO WEEKS

Sorry Guys. There was some miscommunication and our Audio Engineer wants to do the ADR over two weeks so we don't have to rush everything. It's cool with me. I hope it is for you.

Just let me know if this is OK. We'll adjust to keep everybody happy. I'm sorry for the confusion.
